Cruising the Caribbean with Cunard
Cruise Circle
The Caribbean’s warm seas are always tempting, especially when we’re busy battening down the hatches and waking up to wintery scenes across the UK. So this week we thought we’d daydream of classic cruises in the Caribbean with Cunard.
Cruising is one of the best ways to explore the Caribbean (okay, we might be biased), offering a luxurious and comfortable way to travel between islands. Cunard have a huge range of itineraries and sailing durations available, with routes calling at eastern, western and southern corners of the sun-soaked archipelago.
Eastern Caribbean: UNESCO sites & historic delights
Eastern Caribbean cruises typically call at Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, St. Kitts and Nevis, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago. Whilst every island has its own unique character, there are some common threads between them – namely richly historic sites and European-influenced architecture. Think Barbados’ UNESCO-listed port of Bridgetown with its colonial buildings and Antigua’s English Harbour and former base for the Royal British Navy.

Western Caribbean: lush landscapes & natural wonders
Western Caribbean itineraries tick off tonnes of must-see stops. Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, Jamaica, Belize, Honduras and Grand Cayman often take up residence on these routes. Natural wonders are where these islands come into their own, and of course the Caribbean trademark of white-sand beaches feature too! Jamaica’s lush rainforests, towering Blue Mountains and rushing cascades (like the famous Dunn River Falls, pictured above) are just a handful of the country’s incredible natural attractions, while Roatán in Honduras is home to the world’s second largest barrier reef.
