Best Mediterranean Beaches Accessible By Cruise

The Best Beaches in the Mediterranean

Barcelona, Spain

The best thing about Barcelona is that it is a beach destination and a city in one. If you have toured the city and want a beach day, head to Barceloneta.
Easily accessible by the metro, this sandy oasis stretches along the coast and has lots of great spots to eat and drink too. The sea is calm and inviting and it makes the perfect escape from the heat of the city.

Ses Illetes, Formentera

Ibiza

A hidden gem across from Ibiza, the tiny island of Formentera can be reached by catching a boat tour over to this absolute paradise where you could easily think you are in the Caribbean. The rich and famous often pop over from Ibiza to settle on the white sands and swim in the azure waters of this little slice of heaven. There is a great restaurant there too when you need refreshment.

Kusadasi, Turkey

The crystal clear waters of the Aegean mean that the beaches around Turkey and Greece are perfect for water sports and Kusadasi is no exception. Long Beach to the south offers 6km of golden sands and is great for the fun-loving adventure seekers, with a range of water sports on offer. Kustar is a smaller offering but it is picture-perfect with sparkling waters and soft sand.

Korcula, Croatia

Lumbarda’s sandy beaches are arguably the best on the island.  There is rockier Bilin Žal or the lovely, sandy Vela Pržina. Hidden behind a screen of vineyards and rushes, this small but glorious crescent of sand is arguably the finest beach on the island. It gets busy in high summer but has everything you might want for a day out -  shallow waters for paddling, a beach volleyball court at the back and a bar with drinks and snacks.

Villefranche-sur-Mer, France

Villefranche

This picturesque old fishing village on the French Riviera is located just a few kilometres outside of Nice in South France. Compared to other beaches on the French Riviera, the Villefranche beaches are relatively quiet, even in the summer months. Plage des Marinières is the main Villefranche beach and is located at the north end of the bay and it stretches for 1 km under the track of the railway line linking Nice to Italy. It is popular with snorkelers as there are plenty of rocky inlets to explore.

Elia Beach, Mykonos

Elia Beach, the island's longest beach is just 10 km (6 miles) from Mykonos town and is one of the most beautiful and pristine sandy beaches in Greece. Consistently awarded the Blue Flag, cosmopolitan Elia Beach attracts a diverse and colourful crowd from VIPs, celebrities and jetsetters to families and couples. A range of watersports are available, while a number of taverns and beach bars serve local delicacies throughout the day.
